Everybody experiences mindfulness differently, so it’s impossible to say how soon you’ll feel the benefits. But the more regularly you practice, the better you feel. Research suggests that practicing little and often is more likely than long and infrequent sittings to create the change you’re after.
We recommend different levels of practice on different programmes, to achieve the expected outcomes. Our 8-week MBSR and MBCT courses build up to 45-60 mins of formal practice a day with additional informal practices designed to slot easily into your days. Practices on other programmes start at just 10 mins a day. Please check the course details to find a programme that suits you.
Mindfulness is simple, but it can be challenging. You must be open and ready to confront the uncomfortable. If you feel depleted, depressed or are dealing with a mental health issue, we recommend surrounding yourself with other support structures first and returning to mindfulness once you are more supported. Similarly, after a significant life event it can sometimes be more helpful to let its intensity pass before embarking on your mindfulness journey.
